Competition Entry: Honorable Mention

Each variation of the "Ribbon" bench series shares common design logics and manufacturing / material strategies. The series is inspired by the geometrical "ruled surface", a singular surface that is manipulated into various shapes dependent upon changes in need, function, and environmental condition. Perforations in the shell material exaggerate moments of bending within the bench by day while operating as apertures for the casting of light by night. Construction of the bench is made possible through the sandwiching of resin-based materials to a LED impregnated core, all of which are shaped through the use of a singular, adjustable, molding bed.
